Terms of Use

The short, fair rules for playing Thin Air.

Last updated 21 October 2026

1. About these terms

These terms apply when you use Thin Air at playthinair.com (“the Service”), operated by Thin Air, the United States (“we”). By using the Service you agree to them. If you do not agree, please do not use it. Our Privacy Policy explains how data is handled.

2. The Service

Thin Air is a free daily word game. We may change, pause or stop any part of it at any time, for example to fix a problem or retire a feature. Prompts, answer lists and scores are our best estimates and may contain mistakes; we correct them when we learn of them. The Service is provided for entertainment only.

3. Using the Service fairly

You agree not to: use bots, scripts or other automated tools to play, to submit scores to our score service or to copy prompts and answer lists in bulk; attack, overload or try to break the Service or its servers; interfere with how ads are shown or measured, including by clicking ads or generating impressions artificially or asking others to; submit scores that were not produced by playing normally; or use the Service in a way that breaks the law. Personal, non-commercial sharing of your own results (the share text and image) is welcome.

4. Ownership, open data and trademarks

The game design, interface, original code, artwork, wording and our selection and ratings of answers are ours or our licensors’, and are protected by copyright and similar rights. You may play and share your results, but may not copy or republish the Service or its content, except as the law allows. Game prompts and word validation draw on open datasets:

All third-party trademarks, brand names, titles of works and names of public figures that appear in prompts or accepted answers belong to their respective owners and are used only to identify them in a trivia context (nominative use). No sponsorship, endorsement or affiliation is implied.

5. Ads and links

The Service is supported by advertising. Ads are supplied by third parties, and we are not responsible for their content or for sites they link to. How ads are personalised is your choice (see the Privacy Policy and Your privacy choices).

6. No warranty

To the fullest extent permitted by law, the Service is provided “as is” and “as available”, without any promise that it will be uninterrupted, error-free or that your saved progress will never be lost (it is kept in your browser and can be cleared). Nothing in these terms limits any rights you have as a consumer that cannot be limited by law.

7. Limit of our responsibility

To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, or for loss of data, profit or opportunity arising from your use of a free game, and our total liability to you for any claim arising out of or relating to the Service is limited to US$10. Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability for fraud, for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or any other liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited under the consumer protection laws that apply to you.

8. Changes and ending

We may update these terms and will change the date above when we do. Using the Service after a change means you accept the new terms. We may suspend access for anyone who breaks these terms.

9. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Texas and the United States, without regard to conflict-of-law rules, and disputes will be decided exclusively in the state or federal courts serving Denton County, Texas. However, if you are a consumer living in the UK, the European Union or another place with mandatory consumer protection laws, nothing in these terms takes away the protection of those laws or your right to bring a claim in the courts of your country of residence.

10. Contact
