The basics
- Read the prompt. Each one asks for something from a category, such as “Name a fruit” or “Name a cheese”. Some are everyday ones, like “Name something you’d take on a picnic”, and some add a twist, like “Name an orange fruit or vegetable”.
- Type an answer before the 25-second timer runs out and press CLIMB (or Enter). Real, specific answers are accepted; made-up words and off-topic answers are not.
- Watch the altitude. Your answer earns 0 to 100 points and the plane rises by that much. Seven prompts add up to a total out of 700.
- See your flight. At the end you get a verdict, a breakdown of every answer, and a share card with no spoilers.
Tips
- The first thing that comes to mind is what most people think of, so it scores low. Pause and go one or two steps further.
- Do not go so far that the answer is not really in the category. A rejected answer scores nothing and uses your time.
- Spelling is forgiving. Clear slips are corrected for you, and if it is not clear what you meant you are asked to confirm.
- If the timer runs out, that prompt scores zero and the plane is grounded for that round.
Modes
- Daily: seven prompts, the same for everyone, playable once per date. A new daily appears at midnight US Eastern. Finish it on its own date to grow your streak.
- Archive: free. Go back and play any past daily you missed. Each date can be played once, and archive flights never count towards a streak.
- Unlimited: five random prompts a round, as many rounds as you like. Your best score is remembered on your device.
Accessibility
The game works with a keyboard and on phones. The settings menu has More time (60 seconds per prompt), Sound and Reduce motion. Runs that use it are marked as assisted when shared, so they are not compared with standard runs.
